The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory warning of severe lightning in several regions of Sri Lanka.

The affected areas include the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces , as well as the districts of Galle, Matara, and Kurunegala.

The advisory, issued at noon today (16th), will be in effect until 11:00 p.m. tonight. 

According to the forecast, thundershowers with severe lightning are expected to occur in these regions after 1:00 p.m., with the possibility of temporary localized strong winds accompanying the storms.
