Large crowds gathered once again today (27) at the Department for Registration of Persons Sri Lanka, despite the suspension of all public services due to a sudden technical failure in its computer system.
The Department had announced yesterday (26) that all services, including the one-day service, would remain suspended until further notice following the system breakdown.
Members of the public began arriving early this morning to access essential services, with some individuals stating they have been unable to complete their requirements since last Tuesday.
Among those present were several school students who had lost their identity cards during the recent floods.
The students are reportedly in urgent need of replacement documents to take part in a sports competition scheduled for Monday.
