The National Water Supply and Drainage Board said 126 of the 156 water pumping stations damaged by recent severe weather have been restored, with around 30 still under repair.

The Meewathura station is expected to resume operations within the day, enabling supply to Pilimathalawa and Geli Oya, while water has begun reaching Kandy city at partial capacity.

Restoration work is also under way at the Katugastota station.

The board is coordinating with the Road Development Authority to access damaged sites.

Nationwide, 387,964 of the 2,947,833 domestic water connections remain unrestored, with Kandy and Kegalle the most affected.
