Sri Lanka Police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who allow dengue mosquito breeding sites on their premises.
Police said they are conducting island-wide dengue control programmes with the Ministry of Health and Public Health Inspectors (PHIs), while reminding the public that offenders can be prosecuted under the Penal Code and the Prevention of Mosquito Breeding Act.
Authorities also revealed that 4,672 court cases were filed between January and June 2026 against individuals for maintaining environments conducive to mosquito breeding.
