The 5-member committee appointed to investigate the Kothmale bus accident is set to submit its final report to Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya later this week.
According to its chief Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) Ajith Rohana, the committee was established to inquire into the fatal crash which took place on 11 May in Gerandiella, Kothmale, claiming 23 lives and injuring over 50 others.
Upon receiving the report from the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, the committee will also put forth some recommendations aiming to minimise road accidents by addressing systemic issues in the sector.
