Train services from Colombo to Palaviya will resume tomorrow (19) after 53 days, the Department of Railways announced.

Cyclone Ditwah damaged several railway lines, including the track near Bathulu Oya bridge between Chilaw and Puttalam.

Repairs on the remaining damaged sections of the Puttalam railway line have been completed today(18).

Services had previously resumed up to Chilaw after reconstruction in Mahawewa.
