The Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI) has reassured the public that there is no long-term risk of vegetable prices soaring despite recent increases in fuel prices.
According to Professor A.L. Sandika, Director of HARTI, vegetable supplies to the market have been notably increased over the past few weeks to meet the high demand.
While a brief, temporary rise in prices may occur due to higher transportation costs resulting from fuel price adjustments, the overall supply remains strong.
He emphasised that with ample supply and expected demand stabilization, vegetable prices are unlikely to stay elevated in the long term, ensuring market stability for consumers.
