- WP excluded under the programme
State Minister of Technology Kanaka Herath announced that Sri Lanka will introduce the new motor vehicle revenue licence system (eRL 2.0) on 7 October.
He emphasised that this programme will be implemented in all provinces except for the Western Province (WP).
Additionally, he highlighted that the new motor vehicle revenue licences (eRL 2.0) can be obtained from home using this system. He shared these details during a news conference held at the Presidential Media Centre on Monday (2).
“Starting from 7 October, with the introduction of eRL 2.0, an opportunity arises to acquire vehicle revenue licences through the online system, a programme jointly executed by the State Ministry of Technology and the Information and Communication Technology Agency. This initiative encompasses eight provinces, excluding the Western Province. Concurrently, there are ongoing efforts to expand this programme to encompass all government institutions and to facilitate online payments by March of the coming year (2024).”
