The Attorney General has approved a draft bill proposing a two-year extension to the retirement age of judges.

The Attorney General’s Department stated that its legal observations have been submitted to the Ministry of Justice, which is expected to finalise and gazette the bill.

The proposal received Cabinet approval, with the Government citing the need to address more than 1.1 million pending court cases.
