The Irrigation Department has confirmed that there is currently no flood risk in any part of Sri Lanka as rainfall has eased.

The highest rainfall recorded over the past 24 hours was around 20mm in the upper catchment areas of the Kalu and Mahaweli rivers.

The department noted that reduced rainfall has prevented a rapid rise in river water levels, with no flood risk reported at present.
