Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne says a ship carrying 25,000 metric tons of fertilizer is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (5).

He assured that the government is capable of managing fertilizer requirements despite global challenges, noting that existing stocks of MOP and TSP fertilizers currently exceed demand.

While acknowledging a potential shortfall in urea, the Deputy Minister said around 100,000 metric tons are already available, surpassing the 80,000 metric tons needed for paddy cultivation.

Additional shipments have also been arranged to meet demand for other crops, ensuring adequate supply during the Yala season, he added.
