The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for severe lightning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, as well as in the Badulla and Nuwara Eliya districts.

The advisory, issued at 11.30 a.m. today (14), will remain in effect until 11.30 p.m.

According to the Department, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at some places in the affected areas.

Temporary, localised strong winds may also be experienced during thundershowers.
