Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero, Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter, has called for a more flexible approach to certain US tariff measures imposed on Sri Lanka.

He made the remarks during a meeting with newly appointed US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Eric S. Meyer at the Malwathu Maha Viharaya in Kandy.

The Chief Prelate also expressed appreciation for US assistance and facilities provided to Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Meyer later visited the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya and met its Chief Prelate, Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero.
