The Department of Meteorology has issued a Red Warning for strong winds and rough seas for multi-day boats operating in deep-sea areas of the Bay of Bengal.

The Deep Depression was located near 18.0°N latitude and 84.7°E longitude at 5.30 a.m. today (23) and is expected to cross the northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha coasts tonight.

Wind speeds may reach 70 kmph in warning areas, with heavy thundershowers and very rough seas expected.

Naval and fishing communities have been warned not to venture into sea areas between 07°N–22°N latitude and 83°E–95°E longitude until further notice.
