A flash flood situation had occurred in the Chilaw town. Following this, it has been reported that the Ananda National College and the Vijaya College in Chilaw have been temporarily closed. 

Many roads and houses in the Chilaw town have been submerged due to the flooding.

Local residents claim that the flooding was caused by a blockage in the drainage system of the town.
