• Col. Fort-Badulla ‘Ella Weekend Express’ from Saturday 5.30 a.m. with return on Sunday  

The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the proposal to remove Dhammika Jayasundara from the post of the General Manager (GM) of the Railways Department.

Minister of Transport Bimal Rathnayake had recently submitted a special proposal to the Cabinet seeking his removal from the post.

Meanwhile, the department has announced the introduction of a new train service between Colombo and Badulla to cater to the high demand from both local and foreign tourists. The ‘Ella Weekend Express’ will operate from Colombo Fort to Badulla every Saturday at 5.30 a.m., commencing on 16 August. The return journey from Badulla to Colombo Fort will operate on Sundays, starting on 17 August.
