The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has collected 61% of its Rs. 2,402 billion tax revenue target for 2026, Commissioner of Tax Policy and Law Nandana Kumar stated.

He noted that tax revenue collection has increased by around 16% compared with the previous year, and expressed confidence that the full target can be achieved.

The IRD has also opened around 1.2 million individual income tax files, while more than 130,000 companies have registered for tax purposes.
