The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has warned residents in Udadumbara, Kandy District, to avoid areas showing early signs of instability after over 200 mm of rainfall.

Senior Geologist Dr. Wasantha Senadheera said Level 3 ‘Red’ landslide evacuation warnings are in effect for eight Divisional Secretariat divisions across Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, including Doluwa, Udadumbara, Medadumbara, Minipe, Mathurata, Nildandahinna, Hanguranketha and Walapane.

Residents are urged to refrain from unnecessary travel and avoid houses or buildings showing cracks, as they remain at high risk of landslides or slope failures.
