A TikTok delegation met with the Secretary to the Prime Minister (PM) in Colombo to explore how the platform can support digital education, economic development, and responsible online behavior in Sri Lanka.

During the meeting, TikTok’s Head of Government Relations for South Asia, Ferdous Al Mottakin, stressed the importance of integrating digital literacy, legal awareness, and economic opportunities into the national curriculum. The platform aims to move beyond entertainment by fostering positive digital engagement.

The Prime Minister’s Office welcomed the initiative, with officials emphasising the urgency of aligning these efforts with ongoing educational reforms. Both parties agreed on the need for collaborative action to harness the platform’s reach for national development.
