The special ward at Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital, previously reserved for the Executive President, is now open for public medical treatment, the President’s Media Division(PMD) stated.

The move follows instructions from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and was implemented jointly by the Ministry of Health and hospital administration.

Constructed in 1984 with Japanese government support, the ward had been used rarely and is now repurposed to benefit general patients, in line with government policy to optimise public resources.
