- Rs. 11.8 billion allocated for Adhikarana Piyasa project and new buildings.
Minister of Justice and National Integration, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara, has directed officials to expedite the construction of two ministry buildings and four court complexes under the ‘Adhikarana Piyasa’ project.
The instruction was issued during a high-level discussion held on 27 May at the Ministry of Justice and National Integration, where progress on judicial infrastructure projects was reviewed.
The facilities under construction include the Ministry of Justice building and the Magistrate’s Court building in Colombo, as well as court complexes in Galle, Pugoda, Matale, and Kantale. These are part of the Aluthkade Adhikarana Piyasa project aimed at modernising Sri Lanka’s judicial infrastructure.
Funding allocations for the projects are as follows:
• Rs. 3,500 million for the Ministry of Justice building
• Rs. 4,519 million for the Magistrate’s Court building
• Rs. 1,686 million for the Galle Court Complex
• Rs. 882 million for the Pugoda Court Complex
• Rs. 599 million for the Matale Court Complex
• Rs. 244 million for the Kantale Court Complex
The Pugoda Court Complex will be a three-storey facility housing a District Court, a Magistrate’s Court, and other administrative offices, and is expected to be completed within this year.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Justice and National Integration, the Central Advisory Bureau for Engineering Works, and the State Engineering Corporation attended the meeting.
