The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory warning of severe lightning in parts of the Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as in Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts.

Temporary strong winds are also expected during thundershowers.

The public is urged to take precautions, remain indoors during storms, avoid open areas, and refrain from using wired phones or electrical appliances.

For emergencies, residents are advised to contact local disaster management authorities.
