How Rosh Kumarasinghe took a Sri Lankan dream to the main stage of London Fashion Week

Ten years ago, a Sri Lankan beauty enthusiast began creating digital content with a simple yet powerful mission to teach women how to feel confident in their own skin.

What started as sharing makeup tutorials online soon evolved into something far greater than content creation.

A decade later, Rosh Kumarasinghe stands at the forefront of international fashion. Her brand now crosses continents, challenges industry norms and most importantly, has secured a place on one of the most prestigious runways in the world.

A historic moment at London Fashion Week

Beauty by Rosh became the official makeup sponsor for four British designers featured on the Main Schedule of London Fashion Week, backed by the British Fashion Council.

It marks the first time a South Asian entrepreneur has partnered with main schedule designers at London Fashion Week.

It is also the first Australian makeup brand to achieve this milestone.

In an industry where backstage spaces are typically dominated by legacy global beauty houses, this achievement is both rare and significant.

More than 20 designers reached out with sponsorship proposals. After carefully evaluating brand alignment, logistics and investment, four partnerships were secured.

The brand provided full backstage product support, shipping makeup from Australia to London for runway use. .

For one show, Rosh personally stepped into the role of makeup artist, creating every look herself at the request of the designer.

From YouTube tutorials to a global brand

Rosh began her journey in 2015, teaching women how to do their own makeup through YouTube. By 2019, she had transformed her growing influence into the Masterclass World Series, travelling across cities to educate women in person.

It was the first large-scale beauty masterclass initiative of its kind in Sri Lanka.

Then came 2020. The pandemic halted travel and paused her global masterclass plans but instead of waiting for the world to reopen, she pivoted.

In October 2020, she launched Beauty by Rosh, starting with three lipsticks, a limited-edition glitter palette, and a small skincare range.

Today, the brand offers a full makeup line and has grown into an internationally recognised beauty label operating across Singapore, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

It has hosted pop-ups in Paris, London, Singapore, Malé and Colombo steadily building a cross-border presence rooted in inclusivity and ethical beauty.

Representation beyond borders

For Rosh, this milestone extends beyond brand exposure.

For years, South Asians were underrepresented in global beauty narratives. Securing a position on the main schedule of London Fashion Week shifts that narrative visibly and unapologetically.

A Sri Lankan-born entrepreneur is no longer observing from the sidelines. She is shaping runway beauty at one of fashion’s most influential platforms.

Her values remain unwavering:

Always vegan

Always ethical

Never promoting fairness culture

Celebrating brown skin without compromise

More than a milestone

A decade after she first began, Rosh Kumarasinghe’s presence on the main schedule of London Fashion Week stands as more than an achievement.

She has redefined what is possible for South Asian entrepreneurs on the global stage.

More importantly, she has set an example for women everywhere to persevere, to remain bold and to pursue their ambitions without dilution or fear.
