Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Namal Karunaratne emphasised that large-scale mill owners have the right to purchase paddy and therefore no one should oppose their purchasing activities. 

He stated that issues only arise when the government fails to intervene and does not purchase paddy from farmers.

He assured that the current Government is actively involved in the procurement process, purchasing Nadu at Rs 120, Samba at Rs 130, and Keeri Samba at Rs 140.

According to him, there is no current problem with paddy prices or procurement.

Minister Karunaratne highlighted that the production costs have decreased, which has resulted in farmers being satisfied. 

He also refuted claims made by the Opposition, asserting that farmers are not suffering from low prices or government inaction in purchasing paddy
