Junior swimmer Rushalee Dissanayake of Musaeus College set the only national record in the Women’s Senior National 1500m Freestyle at the National and World Aquatic Short Course Selection Trial, organised by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) which concluded at the Isipathana College Swimming Pool Complex on Sunday (27).
The 13-year-old Dissanayake clocked an impressive time of 18:55.44, eclipsing the previous record of 19:17.21 set by Ramudi Samarakoon of Killer Whale Aquatics (KWA).
She went on to outswim her rivals, including Pamudi Jayaratne of KWA, who finished with a time of 19:54.11, and Galina Basnayake, also from KWA, who clocked 20:20.05.
