International Mine-Clearance Ambassador and Hollywood actress Rosamund Pike has praised Sri Lanka’s mine-clearance programme during a meeting with Housing, Construction and Water Supply Minister Dr Susil Ranasinghe.

Officials stated that around 90% of previously mine-affected areas have been cleared, with 20.8 square kilometres remaining in challenging terrain.

Sri Lanka aims to become completely free of landmines within four years. Around 500 specially trained Army personnel are involved in clearance operations.
