The government has increased the fees for registering companies and societies under a new Gazette issued by Trade Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe.

The registration fee for a private limited company has risen from Rs. 4,600 to Rs. 5,200, while the fee for a public limited company has increased from Rs. 23,000 to Rs. 26,400.

The fee for company name approval has also been raised to Rs. 2,600, while society registration now costs Rs. 3,900, up from Rs. 3,450.
