Sri Lanka Police have intensified operations to detect drivers operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, with special attention on high-risk vehicles.
Police stated that the inspections will focus on tipper trucks, lorries, three-wheelers and passenger buses, following an analysis of fatal and serious road accidents.
Police also noted that several bus drivers and conductors found to be under the influence of drugs have been arrested, with steps taken to suspend their driving licences.
The public can report reckless or drug-impaired bus drivers by sending clear video footage showing the vehicle registration number to WhatsApp on 070 475 5600.
