Dengue cannot be treated with only doctors in the committee: Kumudesh

Healthcare is a collective service and all the professions related to the treatment of dengue should be elected to the committee, said the President of the Association of Health Professionals, Ravi Kumudesh.

"We would like to know if the Director General of Health Services does not have the purpose of appointing other professionals other than doctors to the committee as we have seen that his ego does not care about professional morality and cares only for his own," he said.

Kumudesh also stated that the previous Director General acted the same way and now it was being done the same way.

He noted that 50% of patients have been recorded in the western province.

"Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has issued a circular last year that smoking should not be done without an epidemic, but now dengue has been spreading in other areas as well, in which the same circular continues, therefore who will be currently responsible for issuing the circular,"Kumudesh claimed.

He noted that he would also like to know who will take the responsibility for the deaths.

"How can we control the dengue menace and the rapid issuing of laboratory reports for treatments with only doctors in the committee?, therefore the Director General of Health Services has the responsibility to include all the health related professionals in the committee and not only who he wants, and to take action without losing his professional morality," he stressed.

Kumudesh also said that laboratory services should be uplifted for the treatment of dengue and that the chance of death can be increased if patients are admitted to hospitals unnecessarily.

"Dengue tests should be done on time and the patients should be treated at home if the condition is not critical in order to deliberately use the capacity and space of the wards, as it would be easier for the medical staff to ensure treatment," he concluded.
