- A new landmark for city hospitality
Our capital city has a new kid on the hospitality block – the Sheraton Colombo Hotel. Opened at the end of last year, the Sheraton Colombo, a development in the heart of Colpetty, is an oasis for the city traveller promising a unique blend of modern comfort and connection to the bustling community around it.
Sheraton Colombo Hotel General Manager Rahul Maini shared some insight into the hotel’s vision and offering, referencing the hotel’s place within the larger Sheraton group: “Sheraton as a brand stands for welcoming guests and bringing communities together. We want local communities and guests to interact with each other and to offer our spaces for people to connect,” Maini explained, and this commitment to creating memorable experiences will be what defines the Sheraton Colombo.
The hotel boasts 22 floors and 320 meticulously designed rooms across six distinct categories: Deluxe Rooms, Sheraton Club Rooms, Premier Rooms, Junior Suites, Executive Suites, and the Presidential Suite.
From deluxe accommodations to grand presidential suites, each room offers unparalleled comfort and sophistication, ensuring a memorable stay for every guest. Every single room features a sizable bathtub and views of the sea.
Food is one of the cornerstones of hospitality and the Sheraton experience is built to offer diverse culinary experiences. Its main restaurant, Colombo Kitchen – an all-day dining restaurant located on the first floor – is a modern gourmet marketplace designed to tantalise the taste buds, with a live kitchen as well as a signature of all Sheraton Hotels’ main restaurants, a community table – a large table for larger parties located in the heart of the restaurant. Colombo Kitchen offers a wide array of cuisines, from seafood to salads, allowing guests to indulge in a culinary journey like no other.
Maini highlighted the hotel’s dedication to providing exceptional service to its guests, citing the Sheraton’s legendary reputation for hospitality. “Every Sheraton hotel in the world has a community table. The whole idea is to enable conversation and enable gatherings,” Maini shared.
Additionally, the hotel features the Colpetty Lounge, a unique space right off the hotel’s lobby where local culture blends seamlessly with modern hospitality. Guests can enjoy cocktails with friends, savour tea alone, or simply immerse themselves in the warm ambiance of Sri Lankan hospitality with a view of the Galle Road. Also located on the Ground Floor off the lobby is the Ceylon Bake Shop – the Sheraton Colombo’s pastry shop and deli – which offers a calming space for business meetings or a relaxed cup of coffee.
The hotel’s rooftop bar, although still under construction, promises to be a haven of tranquillity, offering breathtaking views of the city skyline. With plans for a rooftop restaurant in the near future, guests can look forward to dining under the stars in an enchanting setting.
For those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, the Sheraton Colombo offers the luxurious Shine Spa, located on the third floor. From invigorating massages to indulgent spa treatments, guests can pamper themselves and unwind amidst serene surroundings.
In addition to its world-class accommodations and amenities, the Sheraton Colombo is also equipped to host a variety of events and gatherings. With banquet services capable of accommodating up to 260 people, the hotel provides the perfect venue for corporate meetings, social events, and intimate (by Sri Lankan standards) weddings.
As the Sheraton Colombo opens its doors to guests from near and far, it symbolises more than just a luxury accommodation – it represents a gateway to unforgettable experiences and cherished memories. Whether indulging in exquisite cuisine, unwinding at the spa, or simply basking in the warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality, guests can expect nothing short of excellence at the Sheraton Colombo.
