A special traffic plan will be in place in Colombo today (28) in view of the Walk for Peace programme, the Police Media Division stated. The programme is scheduled to commence at 4 a.m. today at the Independence Square, Colombo 07, under the patronage of the President. Accordingly, vehicular movement will be restricted on the following roads from 11 a.m. today, subject to the prevailing conditions: the Baseline Road (from the Bandaranaike Roundabout to the Borella Junction), the Maradana Road, the Nandadasa Kodagoda Mawatha, Ward Place, the Zoysa and Lipton Roundabouts, the Dharmapala Mawatha, the F.R. Senanayake Mawatha, the C.W.W. Kannangara Mawatha, the Horton Roundabout, the Nanda Motors vicinity, the Nidahas Mawatha, the Premasiri Kemadasa Mawatha, Cambridge Place, the Glass House area, the Marcus Fernando Mawatha, the Library Junction, the Flower Road, the Pittala Junction, the James Peiris Mawatha, the Muttiah Road, the Baybrook Road, the Staple Street, the Gangaramaya Temple Road, and all surrounding roads in the vicinity of the Gangaramaya Temple.
Accordingly, the Police have requested motorists and the general public to use alternative routes wherever possible in order to reduce traffic congestion and inconvenience during this period.
