The Government will consider changes to fuel prices next on 1 May, Cabinet Spokesperson Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said.
Responding to questions from the media during the weekly Cabinet briefing yesterday (31), Dr. Jayatissa noted that fuel costs had been jacked up twice during March in accordance with the cost of crude and refined oil prices and import costs. Therefore, the Government will not review fuel costs from today (1 April) till the end of April, he noted.
However, prices would have to be revised in the interim only if the cost of fuel sees a drastic increase in the global market owing to the unrest in the Middle East, he warned.
