Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya instructed officials to implement development projects based on the practical needs of the public during the Colombo District Planning Committee meeting held yesterday (12).

Discussions focused on rural road development, poverty alleviation and infrastructure projects planned for 2026 and 2027.

Officials noted that more than Rs. 195 million has been allocated under the Decentralised Budget Programme for 2026, while Rs. 1,036 million has been allocated for the “Praja Shakthi” poverty alleviation programme.

The Prime Minister also instructed officials to complete all related “Praja Shakthi” projects before 30 November 2026.
