During the 57th session of the Human Rights Council, the European Union (EU) welcomed Sri Lanka's progress, particularly efforts toward democratic elections and the establishment of the "Commission for Truth, Unity and Reconciliation."
Accordingly, EU raised concerns about the lack of accountability and urged Sri Lanka to protect civic freedoms, including monitoring the "Anti-Terrorism Bill" and "Online Safety Bill."
The EU also offered support for the upcoming elections and sought clarity on the commission's role in promoting reconciliation.
