The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber advisory for strong winds and rough sea conditions in sea areas from Mullaitivu to Pottuvil via Kankesanthurai, Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

The advisory is in effect from 10.30 a.m. today (04) until 10.30 a.m. tomorrow (05).

Strong winds of up to 60–65 kmph and wave heights of 2–3 metres are expected in affected sea areas. Naval and fishing communities have been advised to remain vigilant.
