PCoI on political victimisation: 17 persons summoned following Nissanka's exposé

Patali, Rajitha, and Arjuna issued summons By Skandha Gunasekara  The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI), probing political victimisation yesterday (15), issued summons on 17 individuals including three ministers of the former Yahapalanaya Government.  Investigating a complaint lodged by Avant Garde Maritime Services Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi, the Commission issued orders to former Ministers Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Patali Champika Ranawaka, and Arjuna Ranatunga.  Former MP and Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake was also called to appear before the Commission.  Senadhipathi alleged that his group of companies had incurred significant losses as a result of malicious and arbitrary action taken by the former United National Party (UNP) Government. The Floating Armoury – the MV Avant Garde ship – was seized by the Navy back in 2015 under the Yahapalanaya administration. The others summoned included former Navy Commander Ravindra Wijegunaratne, former Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) Chief Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe PC, former Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Director Shani Abeysekera, former Deputy Inspector General of Police (Retd.) S.A.D. Gunawardena, Lt. Cmdr. W.H.P. Weerasinghe, Rear Admiral J.J. Ranasinghe, Rear Admiral Nilantha Heenatigala, Upul Jayasuriya PC, former Galle Harbour OIC (Officer in Charge) Inspector Indika de Silva, Inspector of Police Aluthge Senarath, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lasantha Ratnayake, Wasantha Navaratne Bandara PC, and Senior State Counsel Janaka Bandara.
