The Police has issued a warning to the public regarding fake posts circulating on social media under the heading “Awareness by the Sri Lanka Police Department,” which falsely claim to offer guidance and official information. 

In an official statement, the Police clarified that all genuine awareness messages and updates are only released through the Police Media Division, and are presented on official letterhead as part of formal media releases. 

They emphasised that daily updates are published exclusively via their verified official accounts and channels managed by the Media Division.

The Police further warned that any individuals or groups spreading posts falsely claiming to be issued by the Police will face investigation to determine whether such activity is part of a planned operation. 

The public is urged to exercise caution and verify information through official sources, as only the Police’s verified channels are trustworthy for accurate and official communication.
