The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has expelled 6 of its members from the Beruwala Urban Council for siding with the National People’s Power (NPP) to form the council’s administration.

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara confirmed the disciplinary action following the council vote, during which the SJB members helped the NPP secure the chairmanship despite holding only three seats.
