• Recommendations to be made on MT New Diamond, MV X-Press Pearl

A special Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) has been appointed to look into the damages caused by the MV X-Press Pearl and MT New Diamond maritime disasters and to make necessary recommendations.

Commencing yesterday’s (6) Parliamentary session, Speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana said that this committee would be chaired by Minister Ramesh Pathirana. Its other members are State Ministers Dr. Suren Raghavan and Diana Gamage, Prof. G.L. Peiris, Vijitha Herath, Dr. Sarath Weerasekera, Niroshan Perera, Ajith Mannapperuma, Nimal Lanza, Dr. Kavinda Heshan Jayawardhana, Akila Ellawala, Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda, Thushara Indunil Amarasena, Rauff Hakeem, and Madhura Withanage.
