The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued a Level 1 (Yellow) landslide warning for several Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) across five districts in Sri Lanka, in light of ongoing adverse weather conditions affecting parts of the country.
The warning is valid until 9:00 pm today (11), and urges residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
The NBRO’s alert advises the public to stay informed about weather updates and avoid activities that could increase risk during this period.
The districts and specific DSDs under the Level 1 warning include:
Badulla District: Passara DSD and surrounding areas
Kurunegala District: Riddagama DSD and surrounding areas
Matale District: Naula DSD and surrounding areas
Monaragala District: Ambanganga Korale, Rattota, Badalkumbura, and Wellawaya DSDs and surrounding areas
Ratnapura District: Godakawela DSD and surrounding areas
Level 1 warnings indicate a potential risk of landslides, and residents are advised to stay alert for any further updates from local authorities and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected regions.
