Former Minister Lohan Ratwatte and his wife, Shashi Prabha Ratwatte, have been further remanded until 6 December by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court. 

The couple was arrested for allegedly using a luxury car that was illegally imported and assembled in Sri Lanka.

The car was discovered during an inspection of a property in Embuldeniya, Mirihana, owned by Shashi Ratwatte. 

Accordingly, the couple claimed the car was brought by Ratwatte’s late private secretary. 

A petition for bail filed by Ratwatte is set for consideration by the Court of Appeal on 19 November.
