219 pharmacy licences suspended over regulatory failures

The National Medicine Regulatory Authority (NMRA) has suspended licences of 219 pharmacies as of 18 July 2025, Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa told Parliament. 


Of these, 137 were suspended due to lack of permanent pharmacists, while 82 failed to meet community pharmacy practice guidelines.
