The Government of Sri Lanka has decided to further develop and continue operations at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, a senior official said on Saturday (6).
Following an inspection visit to the airport, Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAA) Chairperson Sunil Jayarathne said the government was in discussions with a number of international carriers about launching services to the airport.
He said the government also planned to offer tax concessions to encourage more tourist arrivals through the airport.
The airport, Sri Lanka’s second international airport, officially opened in 2013.
