The National Building Research Organisation has begun special inspections of schools at risk of landslides in the Central Province following adverse weather linked to Cyclone Ditwah, officials stated on 16 December.
Rapid assessments are under way in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Matale districts, supported by university experts.
The inspections, which began on 9 December, are being conducted by a 15-member team from the Universities of Peradeniya, Moratuwa and Sri Jayewardenepura, alongside organisation officials.
Meanwhile, the landslide red alert for Kandy District has been revised, with red advisories now limited to five divisional secretariat areas.
