Prime Minister (PM) Harini Amarasuriya announced that all decisions regarding rural education will be made locally through District Coordination Committees, not from Colombo. 

She urged officials from the Ministry of Education to work efficiently and humanely to support the ongoing education reforms. 

Speaking at a meeting in Hambantota District, she emphasized the importance of addressing disparities between rural and urban schools, reducing dropouts, and ensuring equal opportunities. 

The Government is also working to fix salary disparities and reform pirivena education, stressing that collective effort and local decision-making are key to transforming the country's education system.
