Cabinet has approved submitting amended regulations governing the licensing of tea brokers to Parliament for approval.

The amendments were published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2501/68 dated 12 August 2026, following Cabinet approval granted on 22 June 2026.

They amend the 1979 regulations governing the licensing of produce brokers dealing in tea, issued under the Licensing of Produce Brokers Act, No. 9 of 1979.

The latest decision authorises the submission of the amended regulations for parliamentary approval.

The Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure submitted the proposal.

The Cabinet statement does not specify the individual changes introduced by the amendments.
