The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) will hold a public consultation on 4 July regarding the government's proposal to extend the retirement age of Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and Court of Appeal judges.

The BASL Executive Committee also decided to submit a written request to the President urging that the proposal not be implemented.

Meanwhile, the Judicial Service Association has scheduled a special general meeting on 11 July to discuss the proposal.
