The Colombo Fort Police Station has initiated an investigation into an alleged incident of death threats made against the State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe.
The threatening phone call was reportedly received at Semasinghe’s office on Wednesday (15) afternoon. The anonymous caller is said to have threatened Semasinghe, stating that he would not be allowed to contest the upcoming elections and that Semasinghe would be assassinated if the threat is ignored.
Accordingly, Semasinghe’s media unit confirmed that the Colombo Fort Police has commenced an investigation based on a complaint lodged by Semasinghe.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media in Habarana, Semasinghe revealed that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has stated that the Presidential Election would be held first, followed by other elections.
