Election law violators: Police awaits AG’s advice

The Police is awaiting the advice of the Attorney General (AG) regarding the suspects arrested and produced before the courts for violating election laws during the pre and post-election period.
Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of elections Priyantha Wijesuriya stated: “We will seek advice from the Attorney General on forwarding the information of suspects arrested in connection with the pre and post-election period election law violations.”
One incident was reported from the Hambantota area and two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The Police said that the current security measures will be further continued, enhancing mobile patrols.
