By Skandha Gunasekara
Our People’s Power Party (OPPP) member Ven. Galagodaththe Gnanasara Thera yesterday (16) claimed the Government knew the whereabouts of the OPPP General Secretary who went missing.
“We don’t know where he is. It’s best you ask the Government where our party General Secretary is; only they know,” Gnanasara Thera told The Morning.
OPPP General Secretary Ven. Wedinigama Wimalatissa Thera went missing after he wrote a letter to the Election Commission (EC) nominating himself as the party’s National List parliamentarian.
He went on to say that they were awaiting a decision by the EC on the matter of their National List seat.
“We have submitted letters to the EC and they must tell us how to proceed from this tangled position.”
Furthermore, he said that Wimalatissa Thera was only the Acting General Secretary and that there had been no squabble between Gnanasara Thera and Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera.
“Wimalatissa was only the Acting General Secretary and he had submitted his own (name) claiming that there was some rivalry between me and Rathana Thera. There is no such rivalry.”
